The aim of the marathon is not competitive in nature and attempts to raise public awareness about the importance of reading for personal development and growth of societies, enhance the experiences of individual and shared reading, create a environment conducive to literacy and deepen the links between home, the various institutions and the community.
the day of the marathon, kids across the country, along with their teachers, families, volunteers and other community members, convened by the institution to which they belong, meet a place to spend hours reading and listening to stories, share stories, participate in plays and puppet shows, enjoying leisure.
In 2010, the marathon attracted more than 3,600,000 children, youth and adults of nearly 13,000 institutions across the country ... "
